Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some questions often put to our staff. Please use below as general guidance only, we are able to provide detailed answers to any tree problems you are experiencing.

Why should I use Pinnacle tree care to do my tree work?

At Pinnacle Tree Care we are experts within our field. Trees are of fundamental importance to all our lives and are commonly a real asset to our homes and gardens. When pruning trees, it is essential to understand how trees themselves function and to fully understand the characteristics of the different species. When trees are in an unsuitable location or are diseased or dead their removal is potentially both dangerous and damaging to nearby property etc. We are experienced, qualified and comprehensively insured for undertaking all types of tree surgery work. Please remember – when instructing people to carry out work on your behalf check they are qualified, appropriately insured and comply with Health and Safety Law.

What should I look for when hiring a tree company?

Before hiring a tree company ask for proof of current and valid certificates of  public liability insurance. See if they have any local references and get a detailed written quote for the services, with a firm cost of your tree work. Be wary of companies or individuals who do any the following:- Solicit for work from door-to door, demand payment in advance, advertise topping and lopping, don’t offer a written quotation and cannot produce a valid certificate of insurance.

Do I need an Arborist report or a free quotation?

We offer free no obligation written quotations for tree work and always take the time to view the trees in the first instance. Our experienced and qualified staff are happy to advise on site as to the most appropriate method of tree management. Should you have a number of trees and be unclear about the works required or be acting for a third party, then we are happy to make recommendations. If you require a formal, recorded professional opinion, Arborist report, that may, for instance be required by a Council, Mortgage lender, Insurance company, Planning Consultant/Authority or any other professional body, then It will be a report by one of our Consultants that is required. Depending on the nature of the report, it may be possible to provide an initial quotation over the phone. We are always happy to discuss any issues you are unsure about.

Is my tree significant, regulated or protected?

As of November the 24th 2011 there have been a number of changes to the regulations that govern the classification of significant, regulated and protected trees. The changes are more complex than the previous regulations and as such it is difficult to explain on a broad scale. Please dont hesitate to contact us if you are unsure of, or need to clarify if there are any regulations that govern your trees, we are always happy to help.

How much will it cost to cut my tree down?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions we hear as a tree care company. It is impossible to price tree work over the phone or without viewing the tree. Every tree and its location is different and the cost to remove or prune a tree is based on a number of factors.

Price is based on the size of the tree, the method of removal (whether by crane, EWP or climbing), the structural integrity of the tree, the location of the tree and its accessibility, safety factors such as a trees proximity to electrical lines or roads and a trees location over buildings or other structures of value. We provide free quotes so that we can meet each client and view the tree(s) location. We can provide you with tree health information, hazard assessments and answer all your questions.

How long will it take to get a quote?

Usually within one to five days. We can often look at your work even if you are not home. If you prefer to meet with us in person, we can set up a time that meets your schedule. Most of our quotes take place in the early morning, late afternoon or on weekends. A written quote can be handed to you at the time of quotation, posted or emailed to you.

How soon can my tree work be carried out?

After confirmation of your written quote, we will ask if you have a preference as to when your work is carried out. If not then we will book the work in to be carried out on the next available day. We will always communicate with you to ensure the proposed day is agreeable. Times may vary due to demand and in some cases the need to arrange for traffic control or cranes etc.

We offer a 24-hour emergency/ storm damage service. We will respond quickly to all storm damage calls and offer assistance. We work with insurance companies to help you get trees and limbs off of your property as quickly as possible. Remember it is always advised to take pictures of storm damage before work is carried out.

Will birds or native animals make a difference to my tree work?

There is a wide variety of native animals that we encounter while carrying out tree work, we have an obligation to reduce our impact on native wildlife as best as possible. Where Koalas are located in trees that we plan to carry out work on, tree removals will be postponed until the Koalas are no longer residing in the tree. Tree pruning will take place provided that the branch where the Koala is located does not need to be pruned and our presents will not disturb the animal.

When dead wooding and pruning is to take place hollows are to be retained where the structural integrity of the hollow allows, these provide valuable nesting sites for a number of native bird species.

If any type of bird is nesting in a tree or hedge then we endeavour to protect it, where the nest is in use. This may prohibit certain types of tree pruning or removal during certain periods throughout the year. Removing dense hedges or substantially reducing them in height is likely to disturb nesting birds, but annual trimming may be acceptable. Birds commonly nest during the spring.

If tree work must be carried out in an emergency, then this may override the obligation to protect hollows and nesting species and we can advise you of this where required.

Pinnacle Tree Care has trained qualified climbing Arborists that can install bird and wildlife boxes in your trees.
